Lebialem II, WABANE : Militants Celebrate Resilience, Togetherness

The 40 years of President Biya in power they said has brought light, prosperity and togetherness among them.

The 31 subsections that make up the Lebialem III Section, Wabane, assembled at Government Technical College, Ntemnzem field, to count their blessings and name them one by one. Noted for its steadfastness and unity, a greater segment of the population of Wabane, stood as one to denounce separatists’ activities, and concentrated on their agricultural production, feeding the nation and beyond. Since its creation as subdivision, Wabane has never known any opposition party. They have continue to stay intact with the CPDM, reaping the fruits of steadfastness. The celebration witnessed the financial support of Minister Paul Tasong, Hon. Senator Andreas Lekunze, MP Bernard Foju, Fombele Mathias among others.
The section president, mayor Israel Nembo Ketu, has been acting as liaison between the local population and the central administration. Through this, the youth each year are equipped with books and other school needs at the beginning of every academic year, while during the holidays, a football tournament is organised among the different villages to keep the youth busy. On the part of the parents who are mostly food and livestock farmers, the section president through the council, equips them with farming tools and pesticides. This donations usually go a long way to reduce their cost of production and increase output. Wabane it should be noted, has been placed top in the production of Irish potatoes, carrots, cabbages, spices, and cassava.
With all these achievements, the population believed that for 40 years, they have benefitted a fair share in the national cake. Dressed in their party outfit, and lined up at the college field according to their different subsections, they marched with placards carrying different inscriptions such as “President Biya we congratulate you on your 40th anniversary, 40 years of unity and solidarity, Wabane for Paul Biya forever”.
“Through president Biya, there has been improvement in the road network that has facilitated the movement of our products to the market, Wabane now enjoys electricity in almost all villages, water supply is constant. Most of our villages can boast of primary and secondary schools with modern infrastructures. All these give us enough reason to say thank you our president and we wish you abundant blessings as you celebrate this 40th anniversary”, a militant recounted. Ecumenical service, football match, unity march and a vote of thanks spiced the celebration.
