Voting in Mbengwi : A Walk Over For the CPDM

After a successful and serene election, votes counted at the end in Mbengwi on March 12, suggest an overall win by the CPDM.

Councillors in the five sub divisions of Momo in the Northwest region have sanction political lies telling and unproductivity by voting massively for the CPDM’s list.
They braved threats and intimidations from separatist fighters who had threatened to disrupt the election. Regional and Municipal councillors in Momo division were undeterred and made the decisive move of bravery as they turned out massively to cast their votes defying the threats. According to Hon Francis Enwe, candidate of the CPDM for the division, “Cameroon belongs to all Cameroonians. We cannot in the name of fear, shy away from our responsibility of building this nation. The future of Cameroon must be shaped right and against all odds we have come to do the needful. We owe this to our consciences and to the future generations. Our votes will give the CPDM the necessary strength to move Cameroon forward”, he insisted.
Following several calls by the party’s hierarchy to councillors to choose wisely, they refused to pay heed to deceivers from the opposition who still mustered courage and hoped to derail the people to vote for the SDF. CPDM councillors had been cautioned by the party’s hierarchy not to fall for their lies. A call which was respected to the later.
A football and a handball competition was organized before voting day. It opposed councillors from Momo West in Widikum, Ngie and Njikwa to those of Momo East, in Batibo and Mbengwi. The match captains were Egoh Ringo Section President for Momowest in Njikwa and Mayor Kennedy of Momo east. It ended on a draw for both the men and women. In handball the female councillors drew by three goals to three (3-3) and in football the men had a draw of two goals to two (2-2).
This was to set a good pace for March 12 which according to Stephen Ujambeng from the Ngie Council, “… the voting exercise in Mbengwi went on peacefully and in strict respect of the rules”, he said. “Polling stations were opened at 6 am and councillors took turns to go and perform their voting rights” he continued.
Stephen Ujambeng is the CPDM section president for Ngie and a time – tested militant.
At the end of the exercise the votes were counted and the CPDM had a total of 99 votes against 1 vote for the SDF, making a 99 per cent vote cast in favour of the CPDM in Mbengwi.
