2025 Election : Akono Backs Paul Biya

The Mefou and Akono South West, Akono has expressed the firm desire to have President Paul Biya stand as their candidate for the 2025 election.

They made their intentions known during a joint section conference which they held on 28 July 2023 in the artistic hall of the Stoll college. During this meeting, militants from the thirteen subsections unanimously agreed that Paul Biya will be their candidate. Strong reasons were advanced to support this choice amongst which Paul Biya’s achievements as a Statesman, president of the republic, guarantor of the peace and unity of Cameroon and the national president of the CPDM party. In this light, local party authorities, militants and elite signed a memorandum endorsing President Biya whom they refer to as “A respectable and an undeniable statesman with exceptional leadership qualities”.
In the memorandum they stated that Paul Biya has with such tenacity illustrated himself as the unbeatable developer, through his high sense of good governance, fight against corruption, the institution of multiparty politics in Cameroon, the education of women and the girl child.
Still as part of his achievements, Cameroon’s electoral system they say has experienced great and progressive improvement. According to them, several elections have been held under Mr. Biya’s leadership and have all been judged acceptable hence the peace and stability of the nation.
The national president of the CPDM and Head of State has stood tall in the security domain making Cameroon an island of peace in a sea of turbulence. His tactful and efficient consolidation of the nation’s integrity, the maintainance of peace and security, especially his braving of the attacks from the northern regions, the east, the Northwest and Southwest regions are all laudable reason why the section holds on to Paul Biya.
They have continued to acknowledge him as their spiritual son. As they put it, “Paul Biya has not ceased to promote sons and daughters of Akono to high positions of responsibility”. They admit having Ministers, Rectors of State Universities, Chargés des missions at the presidency of the republic, General managers of state institutions, General inspectors, Directors at the central administration in the country and the still counting.
For these reasons and a lot more, a total of six hundred and eighty-seven (687) CPDM militants from the Mefou and Akono Southwest section are calling for the CPDM national president to be their candidate, pledging their total support in the upcoming election
