The musical composition is titled “Terre de l’Alliance”. The hymn, written by Rev. Father Simplice Vladimir Bidzanga of the Catholic Archdiocese of Yaounde and composed by Dr. Rosny Frédéric M. Mbida, blends spiritual depth with rich cultural expression. Designed for a four-part mixed choir with instrumental accompaniment, it captures themes of prayer, hope, and joy as the nation prepares to welcome the Pope Leo XIV. The composition highlights the Pope’s role as successor of Saint Peter and spiritual leader of the universal Catholic Church, while calling for unity and collective prayer. It opens with a solemn litany of welcome and concludes with a message emphasizing an “one and indivisible” Church. A distinctive feature of the hymn is its multilingual character, reflecting Cameroon’s cultural diversity. Alongside French and English, it incorporates local languages such as Ewondo, Duala, and Agi’i Mbeligi, as well as greetings in Fulfulde, Lamnso, Maka, Balondo, Ghomala, Bamoun, Bulu, and Bassa. “Terre de l’Alliance” is intended to embody both the sacred and celebratory nature of the papal visit, widely seen as a moment of hope, unity, and peace for the country.
