The Member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North has stayed constant on his push for effective school resumption for a brighter and better tomorrow.
In a special back to school message at his Yaounde residence recently, the law maker emphasized that education remains the backbone for every successful society. Taking a retrospective view of what obtained in the North west and South west regions, Njingum Musa said, “Best results in public examinations come from the North west and South west regions to the rest of the nation and beyond. These regions set the good pace. Today, our children are forced to study elsewhere. Though they are still performant, they do so from outside-in. It doesn’t give a good image”.
He expressed great appreciation to pupils and students who excelled in the First School Leaving Certificate, Common Entrance and the General Certificate of Education (GCE) examinations. “the performance this year was wonderful”, he stated.
The MP also acknowledged that life is hard in the North west and South west regions, and both regions are at a recovery stage at moment.
Linking education to security, Hon. Njingum warned that keeping children out of school will only fuel urban crime.
According to him, “the surge of such vices as banditry, kidnappings, generalized theft are results of idleness and a general failure to instill the right values”.
Hon. Njingum Musa has thus made a strong and passionate appeal for an end to the ghost town operations and school boycotts. As he put it, “These setbacks are destroying the hitherto solid educational foundation of these two regions. It is weakening their economies and by extension that if the entire nation”, he emphasized.
About the long-term effects of such actions in the future, he insisted that “the time to stop is now”, without which poverty will become inevitable and the future compromised forever.
The gradual and steady return to peace and normalcy in these regions, particularly in his native Ngoketunjia division; Njingum Musa insisted that “It must be upheld and encouraged”.
As true therefore as the saying “it is never too late to start over” is, so too are the words of wisdom from the ace politician and sage if considered.
