Youth Empowerment : YCPDM at the Fore in Ndop

The Youth wing of the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement (CPDM) of the Ngoketunjia I section in Ndop has continued to intensify efforts aimed at promoting peace, empowering young people and strengthening civil participation within the locality.

Under the leadership of Pius Mukrongoh Mingo, YCPDM president, the youth wing structure in Ndop has remained actively engaged in initiatives geared towards nurturing responsible citizenship and fostering sustainable development among young people.

During the recent outreach gathering with youths in Ndop, Pius Mingo reiterated the importance of preserving peace and social cohesion. The YCPDM President has emphasized that “the future of the section largely depends on the constructive engagement of the youths to its young population first and then to the society in general”. Mingo insisted that the youths must rise up and shine by example, shunning all deviant behaviors and giving peace and security the first place in their community. As a commitment, Mingo said the youths in his care will continue to be drilled on the respect of values that promote peace, unity and national development. “They must distant themselves from actions capable of disrupting the peace already being enjoyed in Ndop and its environs”.

Mingo has been very instrumental in championing youth empowerment initiatives. He is reported to have offered scholarship opportunities, helped youths with the creating and running of petty businesses and above all helping them to become responsible citizens by ensuring that they get registered on the voters lists when the get to the voting age of 18.

The mentoring of the youths in the section is thus an exercise that is continuous. This ensures that no political exercise comes and take the young  people in his section who are also the most active part of the population off guard.
