GRAND ANGLE : Philemon Yang in Kumba

The Cpdm national campaign manager, Philemon Yang launches the trail today in the Meme divisional headquarter.

At a grand rally billed for the Kumba grandstand, Yang is expected to take Paul Biya’s new vision for Cameroon to denizens of the region. It will be a forum for him to galvanise and boost the morale of militants of the town and entire South West region. This visit is not by chance. Kumba is a slippery political terrain and at the dawn of a presidential election, there is need to transform this erstwhile Sdf fief to a Cpdm strong hold. Being the economic live wire of the region, Kumba opens its doors to the Head of government at a time when New Deal achievements are countless in the town.

He will illuminate the people’s perspective on what Biya has done and is ready to do for the people of K-town and the region. Between 2004 till today, the Meme division has benefited several police stations, construction of seven integrated health centres, rehabilitation of three district hospitals, equipment of five integrated health centres, construction of 100 classroom, three divisional delegations, refurbishing of one women empowerment centre, construction of a youth empowerment centre, provision of water wells, vehicles, electric generators, motorcycles and the creation of a zoo in Kumba.Beyond these achievements of the Cpdm’s government in Kumba and the Meme division, the entire South West region has a similar story to tell. The major accomplishment here is the peaceful recovery of the Bakassi peninsular from Nigeria. Today, the Bakassi zone is one of the greatest beneficiaries of the Greater Ambitions development programme. With the effective transfer of occupied territories in 2008, a special development plan for the area was elaborated under the auspices of the Inter ministerial committee on priority projects in the Prime minister’s office.  Moreover, the presence of the Bir/ Delta in Jabane and Bir/Logistics in Ekombo Titi represent an equivocal solace to the population in terms of security and safety. All through the region, decentralisation, promotion of national unity and patriotism also represent high points of the ending mandate in the region. Examples abound: putting in place of the city councils of Kumba and Limbe, six new district councils and construction of council offices in a number of secondary towns. Also, the region witnessed the provision of social amenities such as 12 rural electrification projects together with state subventions and research through projects put in place by corporations like the Cdc, Soweda, Rumpi area participatory development project, Pamol, etc.Being an area of huge agricultural production and main source of Cameroon’s hydrocarbon resources, the South West region together with her dynamic and peace loving population occupy pride of place in Biya’s agenda. For instance, several South Westerners occupy key positions in Biya’s government, with two of them being former prime ministers. Putting aside the charm that exists between the South West region and Paul Biya, Mr Yang has a daunting task. To this effect, he will emphasize on three things. Peace, peace and peace before, during and after the election. It is worth noting that from Kumba he will set out to the East region where he will chair a grand rally to launch campaigns in the Upper Nyong division in Abong Mbang tomorrow Wednesday September 28. In the meantime, the East regional campaign coordinator, Emmanuel Bonde will launch the trail today in Bertoua.           Paul Biya’s choice of Yang Philemon as national campaign manager is well thought. As Prime Minister, he has a clear mastery of all government projects, employment opportunities across Cameroon, availability of state funds, government’s desire to invigorate the country’s agriculture, etc. Mr Yang is also an active political operative of Paul Biya’s party. Reason why, he was recently appointed in the central committee of the said party during its 3rd ordinary congress.
