I remain a member of CPDM – Senator Regina Mundi

The CPDM Senator of the North West region Elizabeth Regina Mundi made the declaration during a visit to the General Secretariat of the Party on Thursday June 2, following her release from the hideout of armed separatists after 30 days of abduction.

She met with the Secretary General of the CPDM Jean Nkuété, and his collaborators in the company of the Governor of the North West region Adolph Lele Lafrique.

Detractors of the CPDM claimed she was going to dump the party after her release, since her woes said they came for her because she was a member of the ruling party. Senator Mundi has rather declared her unflinching support and unconditional adherence to the torchlight Party.

“I am not going to leave my party. I continue to be a member of the CPDM. I remain a member of the CPDM. Don’t forget that I am a member of the Political Bureau of my Party. What else do they (separatists) offer? Do they have any political party?” Senator Mundi quizzed, while adding that she is a “Cameroonian, born and breed in Bamenda. Cameroon is a democracy and I have the right to belong to the political party of my choice.”

She expressed gratitude to the National President Paul Biya, the Secretary General Jean Nkuété and her Party comrades for the concern during her days of captivity, and to all Cameroonians for their support.

She said: “I am overjoyed and overwhelmed by the concern, especially that of the Head of State. Life gratitude to think that he (Paul Biya) sent a special squad to release me. My thanks to the Secretary General of the party who showed so much concern and had to visit my family at this critical time, which just goes to confirm the CPDM is one party, we are one people and I know that I have been serving the right party.”

The Senator joined her voice to that of the Head of State, calling for the combatants to drop their weapons and move into the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration, DDR, Centres.

“I saw boys in their teens and twenties. They ( amba boys) should rethink what they are doing in the bushes, follow the Head of state’s message to come out and leave a normal life,” she advised and called on their leaders to let children return to the classrooms. “The armed groups should rethink this concept of keeping our children out of school. It is very unfair,” Senator Mundi said.

The BIR on special mission rescued the senator from captivity in Ashong village of Batibo Subdivision, in the Momo division of the North West region on Sunday May 29.
