Aiding Less Priviledged : CPDM Elite Gives Hope

Some CPDM elite resident in Bamenda have donated school needs to less privileged children in the Bamenda Old Town neighbourhood as 2022/2023 school takes off.

In the spirit of “leave no child behind”, the CPDM elite carefully identified kids who should be in the classrooms but may have challenges enrolling to give them hope and broaden their prospects for the future. The children, over 60 turned gathered at the esplanade of Baba Danpullo Palace in Old Town, recently. Each received books, pens, pencils as their benefactors promised follow up to ensure they all attend school.
Initiated by the Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and sponsored by Aladji Baba Hamza Danpullo, the laudable gesture rapidly caught the interest of Economic Commissioner at the North West Regional Council, Ghejung Awunti an Old Town boy and Minister Delegate in charge of the Commonwealth at the Ministry of External Relations, Felix Mbayu who pumped in their undiluted support. “School gives a strong foundation for the future. We will encourage every effort aimed at encouraging the growth of the population inline with the objectives of the government and strengthen partnership with such organisations”, Awunti said. “We have come to Bamenda to promote education because without it, there is nothing. As leaders of civil society, we are here to give the less privileged children the inputs for good education,” the National President of the Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship, ASSO PEN, Ousseini Moussa corroborated.
Prior to donating didactic material to the selected children, ASSO PEN had invested seven million francs worth in the promotion of education across communities in the North West region, spanning from provision of school materials and the payment of fees for children from homes with financial difficulties.
The association has also in collaboration with some CPDM elite and Regional Assembly members, among them Hamza Baba Danpullo enhanced skills of youths in the region in entrepreneurship as well as training on good civic behaviour among youths for a sustained future.
Beneficiaries of the back-to-school gifts also featured the minority group of the Bororos who hitherto shy away from formal education left the ceremonial ground reassured of a future that is better as they keep heads high to be in the classrooms.
