After May 20 Mobilisation : Paul Biya Salutes Political Parties

The Head of State has commended militants of the CPDM and other political parties for their massive and disciplined participation.

Following the successful celebration of Cameroon’s 54th National Day, President Paul Biya has congratulated leaders of political parties for the peaceful and patriotic participation of their militants during the May 20 parade, with special recognition given to the impressive mobilisation of the CPDM at the May 20 Boulevard.

President Paul Biya has addressed congratulatory messages to leaders of political parties whose militants took part in the May 20 parade. The messages, sent to leaders of parties praised the peaceful, orderly and patriotic mobilisation witnessed during the national celebration marked by displays of unity, solidarity and attachment to republican institutions.

Addressing the National Presidents of the Social Democratic Front, Union of the Peoples of Cameroon, Cameroon Democratic Union, Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation, National Alliance for Democracy and Progress and the National Union for Democracy and Progress, the Head of State urged militants to remain messengers of peace, unity and solidarity in the service of Cameroon’s progress.

The CPDM stood out by the massive turnout and in the message addressed to the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPDM, Jean Nkuété, President Paul Biya congratulated party militants for what he described as their remarkable participation during the national event. “I see this as an expression of their renewed attachment to the institutions of the Republic,” President Paul Biya wrote. The National President of the CPDM further called on party militants to intensify mobilisation efforts in favour of peace, unity, stability and prosperity in Cameroon. “At this time of renewed patriotic sentiment, I ask you to convey my encouragement to them and urge them to mobilise even more for the peace, unity, stability and prosperity of our dear and beautiful country,” the message stated. The Head of State concluded by renewing his assurances to the CPDM Secretary General while encouraging militants to remain steadfast in their commitment to the ideals of national cohesion and republican values.

The messages come on the heels of a National Day celebration that saw thousands of Cameroonians, especially youths and political party supporters, rally around the ideals of living together and national unity at the May 20 Boulevard in Yaounde.
