Jean Nkuété, Secretary General of the Central Committee, has enjoined party officials to combine unity, realism, innovation and grassroots action to consolidate the CPDM’s leadership across the national territory.
The CPDM has launched what is expected to be its most intensive phase of political mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming municipal and legislative elections, with a clear objective of securing an overwhelming victory capable of consolidating its leadership in the National Assembly and municipal councils while providing President Paul Biya with the political support required to pursue the implementation of his mandate’s programme. This was the central message during a strategic seminar that brought together Members of the Central Committee, Heads of the Permanent Regional and Divisional Delegations, Chargés de Mission and members of the General Secretariat. Held under the theme, “he Imperative of a CPDM Landslide Victory in the Legislative and Municipal Elections: Reasons, Prerequisites, Actions,” the seminar marked the official transition from political reflection to electoral action.
Looking back on ten years of the Permanent Delegations of the Central Committee, Jean Nkuete credited the structures with profoundly transforming the party’s operational effectiveness. By strengthening discipline, improving coordination between the Party hierarchy and grassroots structures, promoting political monitoring and supporting government action, they have, he noted, contributed significantly to consolidating the CPDM’s position as Cameroon’s leading political force.
Describing the 2025 presidential elections as the fiercest political contest the party had faced since the advent of multiparty politics, the SG warned that past victories alone would not secure future success. “The greatest danger for a reigning champion begins the moment he shows signs of hesitation in the face of his opponents,” he declared. Far from encouraging complacency, Jean Nkuété has challenged party officials to confront today’s political realities with lucidity. Acknowledging growing public expectations and dissatisfaction, he has urged leaders to abandon outdated political reflexes in favour of “political realism and pragmatism” insisting that only a profound change in mindset would enable the CPDM to respond effectively to evolving social realities and regain the confidence of the electorate. To him, innovative approaches, stronger communication and continuous engagement with the population throughout the electoral period is utmost.
This message resonated throughout the seminar as Professors Ndembi Yembe Paul Célestin, Ngolle Ngolle Elvis, Oyono Dieudonné and Ndong Soumhet urged participants to adapt their methods to realities on the ground. Their presentations converged on a common conclusion: electoral success will depend on political intelligence, proximity to the grassroots, effective communication and the ability of party officials to anticipate and respond to local challenges with pragmatism and creativity.
Grassroots party leaders now have to maintain harmony within the Party as the foremost priority in the months ahead. “Do everything in your power to restore general calm within the Party… eliminate divisions… restore harmony and cohesion, as peace within our ranks is the essential prerequisite for our victories,” the SG has instructed.

This is to say, in all honesty that we have to recognize that we are living in an environment where not everything and everyone may be favorable to us. And we have to, with that understanding, know that we are going out there to do hard work to convince fellow Cameroonians, not just our militants, to the ideals of the party and the need for them to support our candidates in the upcoming legislative and municipal elections. And as such, the Secretary General has expressed not only his own encouragement, but he has also transmitted the encouragements of the National President to the permanent regional, divisional delegations, and all the other actors within the CPDM Central Committee framework. He has encouraged everyone to be fearless, move forward with all confidence, assurance, appeasement, serenity and purposefulness to ensure that the voters that we are going to meet recognize us and continue to see us as the party of consensus and one that listens.
This seminar is strategic in the sense that we are not seeking a victory which is routine, but one which nobody can have any reason to quarrel with, and that is why, after this seminar, the message is supposed to continue to the regions, whereby our comrades who are at the level of the basic organs will be edified and the work of voter registration intensified so that by ist end we can be sure that our database as far as voter registration is solid enough fir us to achieve that resounding, victory we are looking for.
