Development, Return of Peace in NW/SW : PM Engages Parliamentarians

After meeting MPs of the South West region, it was the turn of North West, and The Prime Minister, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute urged them to work for the return of peace in their region.

He encouraged parliamentarians of both Houses from the trouble-ridden region to take up community peace building initiatives in their respective constituencies and convince the population to eschew violence and embrace normalcy and peace.
The Head of Government was speaking at a dinner he offered in honour of the lawmakers Monday April 11, 2022, a day after the March session of Parliament.
The dinner was attended by Grand Chancellor of National Orders and former Prime Minister Yang Philemon, cabinet ministers, general managers of state corporations and political elite from the region. The PM and elite of North West reviewed the security situation of the region during the special meal with the goal of having peace in the region.
During the dinner Dion Ngute touted efforts government is making to overturn the situation in the region. The PM was aghast at how much insecurity has caused a slowdown in the economic development of the region. He mentioned that, the timing was right to take community initiatives towards peace as villages have begun chasing out separatist fighters and the anti-sentiment against the combatants is deepening.
Yang Philemon, Questor of the National Assembly, Hon Njingum Musa and one of the Senate Vice Presidents, Mochigle Vanigasen – of the SDF, promised the PM that the elite will continue seeking peace and reconciliation in the region.
“We are very grateful to the PM. I am of the SDF party and this is the first time that we have been invited openly to this Lake side residence,” SDF Senator, Vanigansen Mochiggle said. Adding that, “With this spirit, we are going to see how peace can return to the North West region”. “There is no conflict in the world that has ever been resolved through arms. There can never be development in an atmosphere of war,” Mochiggle stated.
Parliamentarians will return to the National Assembly and Senate for the June session, until then, the elected officials should be in the field carrying out actions for the benefit of their constituencies.
