Militants of the CPDM in Nwa who fled their homes due to the crisis are being reinserted in their community as local party authorities provide them basics to start life afresh.
Raymond Bunyui, a returnee IDP, husband and a father of four is full of joy as he can now feed his four children normally, provide them their school needs and also go about his daily activities without much pressure.
He owes this to his job in the Nwa modern oil palm plantation, brain child of Francis Mungusi Nkushuap; Section President for Donga Mantung V who upon his arrival back home recruited him in the plantation. The little money he makes from working in the palm plantation is what is keeping his family going.
According to Raymond “when the crisis started, I fled to Bafoussam with my family for safety. Life away from home was really hard. For example, I don’t understand nor do I speak French, survival in Bafoussam with such a set back was tough. My second challenge was that I could not find a job that could feed my family. When therefore things started to stabilize I rushed back. I have since my return to Nwa been working in this palm plantation and to me it is far better than anything I could ever do out there”, he said.
Raymond Bunyui is a permanent worker in the plantation. He has a monthly payment of FCFA 40.000 and his job consists of harvesting palms. When this is done they gather the coons, ensure the picking and putting together of fallen nuts for transportation from the farm to the local oil Mill where the palms are prepared, mashed locally to extract palm oil which they sell in the Nwa local market and other parts of Cameroon. Nwa being a boarder locality, the oil that is much appreciated for its quality also sells in the Nigerian market.
Besides Raymond Bunyui there are also temporary workers of both sexes working in the farm. All of them returnee IDPs who like him are hoping to find their feet soon. The temporary workers are mostly concerned with manual work and are paid daily according to the work done.
According to the initiator of this project Francis Mungusi, “The idea of receiving these IDPs as they arrive and enabling them to at least feed and get busy is our own way of encouraging them to settle down and work for the future as they continue to militate in our great party”, the section president said. It is also a clear indicator that the people will not be swayed easily ever again haven seen the emptiness of the illusion sellers” he insisted.
The CPDM is a party of peace. The party’s stance for development is none negotiable hence the empowerment of persons to trigger the desired results in the not to distant future.
