MEME : CPDM officials rescue IDP’s, Schools

The top officials of the party in Meme Division, donated food stuffs and didactic materials to displaced persons and schools last week end.

Some 100 internally displaced persons from villages in Meme Division, resident in Kumba, and over 10 secondary schools benefitted from the largesse of some top officials of the CPDM party. The kind gesture was championed by the President of the South West Regional Assembly Zacheus Elango Bakuma, with the support of Senator Andrew Otte Mofa, and Hon Lawson Tabot Bakia, Section Presidents of Meme II and Meme I A respectively. The gifts were handed to beneficiaries during a ceremony at the Kumba I Council chamber.
The donation comprised of food stuffs such as bags of rice, palm oil, bathing soap, as well as books and stationery.
During the ceremony, Zacheus Elango Bakuma, a resource person of the CPDM party in Meme division, stated that it was their own little way of comforting the displaced persons, who for five years have been away from their homes to take temporal residence in Kumba. “Despite the socio-political crisis, you have stood firm behind the party by participating in all political activities. Politics is a give and take affair. Your firm commitment to the party enables us to grab the three Councils and parliamentary seat in Kumba from the hands of the opposition. We want to assure you that your loyalty to the party is paying off. We will continue to assist you in our own little ways”.
The president further explained that the little donation will go a long way to relieve the suffering party militants affected by the socio-political crisis. While assuring them that they are very much aware of their plight. He promised them more in the days ahead. To the over 10 secondary schools, the president explained that the didactic materials are intended to boost the teaching and learning process, as well as encourage the effective resumption of schools.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the team headed by the regional assembly president for placing Meme division at the top of their priorities. They say, the gesture has rekindled a spirit of hope and assurance in them. While thanking the president and his team for the show of magnanimity, they called on the government to adopt measures that will help bring the crisis to an end, so that they can return to their respective villages.
The CPDM elected members of parliament from Meme Division who accompanied the regional assembly president, promised to head similar donations in the days ahead.
