The government has launched several initiatives to promote digital economy and innovation, including the Strategic Plan for a Digital Cameroon which aimed to increase access to electronic communication services nationwide. The plan focuses on defining strategic areas, actions, and priorities with great impact on the digital development of the territory. Cameroon has made significant strides in promoting digital economy and innovation, with a focus on empowering youths to drive economic growth and development. The government has launched several initiatives to support young entrepreneurs and startups, including the Digital Innovation Week, which aims to promote cybersecurity and digital innovation among Cameroonian youths.
The National Competition for the Best ICT Project, organized as part of the Digital Innovation Week, has rewarded innovative ICT projects with prizes and recognition. The competition has also provided a platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and connect with investors and mentors.
Another significant initiative is the National Status of the Student-Entrepreneur (SNEE), launched in 2023, which aims to promote entrepreneurship among students and provide them with the necessary support and resources to start and grow their businesses.
The SNEE offers several benefits to student-entrepreneurs, including training and coaching sessions, access to collaborative workspaces, flexible timetables, and personalized assistance and follow-up from university and professional experts.
