The Senator from the North West revisits the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the party and recent appointments and structural reinforcements within the CPDM which demonstrate the party’s commitment to adapting to the evolving political landscape and preparing for the upcoming presidential elections.
L ’Action: We just celebrated the 40th anniversary of the CPDM. How do you think the party has evolved over the past 40 years and how does the evolution reflect Cameroon’s development?
Senator Ngafeeson Emmanuel: Let me start by telling you that the celebrations were hectic in Bamenda, the birth place of the CPDM. It is for this reason we request that the President of our party should come back to Bamenda and launch his campaign. For the past 40 years, the CPDM has grown from strength to strength. From the sections to cells, there is no corner of Cameroon that this party has not reached. The growth of the party corresponds with the development of the country. Forty years ago, there was only one university, today we can count up to 11 of them. Though there is a lot of talks about roads, a lot of kilometers of roads have been constructed. Even right now, construction is ongoing on the ring road and in other Regions of the country. See how our agriculture is doing even if we take just the example of cocoa and coffee. We must acknowledge that 40 years on, Cameroon has developed in diverse sectors.
The National President Paul Biya recently appointed some members of the Central Committee and heads of Permanent Regional and Divisional Delegations. How do you think this will influence the party’s preparations for the upcoming presidential elections in terms of strategy and campaign?
The recent appointments of our President Paul Biya into our party is very timely and strategic. All those appointed are strong party militants who have been working and will now work more to see that we win the presidential election with ease. For the upcoming elections, we need to stand firm and make sure everyone is registered, after the registration we make sure we come out and vote our champion There is no doubt that the CPDM will win, judging from the turnout over the national territory to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the birth of this party.
The Secretary General of the Central Committee has urged youths to shun hate speech and maintain peace. What message do you have for your constituents, and the broader public on the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility throughout the electoral process?
Peace is a priceless commodity which our national president has over the years sought to maintain. The upcoming elections are crucial for our country and my request if for Cameroonians to use their better judgement too avoid any conflicts. That is why we should avoid confrontations of all nature. Whatever happens, peace must be maintained. The others who know they can’t win will do everything to provoke and cause disorder. Our response in the face of the dissident voices will be peace and order.
