In a show of belief and resolve to stand behind President Biya and trust him with piloting the affairs of Cameroon for the next seven years, youths from the South West Region of Cameroon converged on Bongo Square in Buea on Saturday, April 26, 2025, to publicly endorse President Paul Biya’s candidacy in the upcoming October presidential election. The young people said the event was a testament to their unwavering faith in the President’s leadership and vision for Cameroon.
The youths, mobilized under the banner of « Youth Well-Wishers and Supporters of President Paul Biya, »presented a symbolic contribution of FCFA 5 million to the national organizing committee. They described this as a concrete gesture demonstrating their commitment to supporting the President’s bid for re-election.
Honourable Malomba Essembe, spokesperson of the group, expressed the youths’ admiration for President Biya’s experience, wisdom, and consistent investment in Cameroon’s youth. « We gather not merely to endorse a man, » Malomba stated. « We gather to affirm a legacy. We gather to say: we believe in experience, we trust in continuity, and we stand with President Paul Biya. » The Buea event was part of a national initiative launched on February 13, 2025, in Yaoundé, to sponsor President Biya’s candidacy. The Southwest Region took the lead, becoming the first to contribute to the initiative. « We, the youth of the South West Region, refuse to be swayed by political ambulance-chasers—those who have no real projects for this nation, only empty talk, » Malomba declared. « We denounce calls for violence and disorder meant to destroy the peace that is the bedrock of development. We are patriots. We are peace-lovers, and today we make our choice known: We stand with President Paul Biya. » The youths said their support stems from confidence in President Biya’s leadership and vision for Cameroon. Hon. Malomba emphasized that the President has consistently encouraged young people to « dare, create, and innovate, » while establishing special programs and funding opportunities for their ambitions.
The FCFA 5 million contribution, publicly counted and displayed at Bongo Square, symbolized their commitment. « This contribution is our signature, » Malomba announced. « It is our way of saying: Yes, to hope. Yes, to stability. Yes, to experience. Yes, to President Paul Biya. » The rally allowed the youths to express gratitude for President Biya’s efforts in promoting peace, stability, and development. « We are not waiting for the future—we are building it, » Malomba declared. « And we are building it with the man who has built peace for over 40 years: President Paul Biya. »
