After a fruitful seven-year tenure, H.E Wang Yingwu, outgoing Ambassador of China to Cameroon reflected on the multifaceted support he received during his mission, expressing deep gratitude for the strong diplomatic ties between Cameroon and China.
During their discussion, Ambassador Wang highlighted the significance of high-level talks and meetings between Chinese and Cameroonian officials in strengthening bilateral cooperation. He praised the CPDM’s role in solidifying the bond between the two nations, particularly noting the 2023 visit of a Chinese delegation to Cameroon, which was warmly received by Secretary General Jean Nkuété.
The ambassador underscored China’s continuous support to Cameroon across various sectors, including the economy, education, and military cooperation. He emphasized that China remains Cameroon’s largest trading partner, a testament to the robust cooperation between the two countries. The ambassador also commended the CPDM’s efforts in mobilizing its militants, especially the youth, during the recent National Day celebrations. He lauded the party’s commitment to peace and stability, particularly in the crisis-affected Northwest and Southwest regions.
For his part, Secretary General Nkuété praised Ambassador Wang for his thoughtfulness in making a farewell visit. He described the ambassador as having come to Cameroon as a diplomat but leaving as a friend. Nkuété highlighted the numerous benefits of the Cameroon-China partnership, citing the recent construction of the Paul Biya Glass House as a symbol of China’s unwavering support. He reaffirmed the CPDM’s commitment to supporting government initiatives for the welfare of the population, particularly in the lead-up to the presidential elections.
The meeting concluded with warm sentiments, as Secretary General Nkuété wished Ambassador Wang a fond farewell, presenting him with gifts to commemorate his time in Cameroon. Present at the farewell visit were some members of the General Secretariat, including Prof. Elvis Ngolle Ngolle, Jean Pierre Fogui, Prof. Oyono Dieudonné, and Tangnin Tchidzem André.
Ambassador Wang did not fail to solicit the support he enjoyed for the incoming diplomat while expressing hope for a successful organization of upcoming elections in the country.
