Douala : Anglophones Fired Up for Biya

Businessman, Hon Ngala Gerard who is resident in the economic capital has rallied Cameroonians from the English-speaking regions living in the metropolis to vote for President Paul Biya.

The influential parliamentarian has mobilised the Anglophone community to ensure a massive victory for incumbent President Paul Biya in the upcoming October 12 presidential  election,  a rally held on Sunday. The meeting, which brought together indi- genes of the North West and South West Regions resident in Douala, featured calls for solidarity and unity to guarantee a transparent electoral process.

The Mayor of Douala IV, Dr. Herve Moby Mpah, appealed to the commu- nity to unite and ensure President Biya secures a 100 percent victory. He emphasised Douala’s role as a commercial and edu- cational hub, stating that peace is essential for its continued growth. Hon Ngala Gerard, the MP for Nkambe Central, raised concerns about the Anglophone population being misled by false promises. He recalled that in 2016, many were deceived by separatist propa- ganda, leading to instabil- ity and a mass exodus to other regions, including Douala.

«We must remain united and vote for the candidate who ensures peace and development for Cameroon,» Ngala said. He described President Biya as «the architect of peace and national integration,» and urged the people not to fall prey to the plans of «doomsayers plot- ting violence.» Fon Ju Wilson, a traditional leader from the North West Region, told the population that peace is a prerequi- site  for  development and that President Biya is uniquely positioned to deliver both.

The event con- cluded with cultural performances, rein- forcing the message of national unity. The MP’s mobilization effort in Douala is seen as a sig- nificant move to consoli- date support for the incumbent ahead of the polls.
