Widikum : Satisfactory Turnout and Response

Militants of the CPDM in Widikum, Momo division of the Northwest region on Sunday October 12 matched words with action.

A bastion of the CPDM par excellence, militants of the Momo V section had promised to give their maximum in terms of votes to their chosen candidate, Paul Biya. This followed an intensive mobilization by local party authorities in the area prior to election day. They defied all separatist tendencies, rebuilding confidence in the people with a firm call for them to know their right and to stand up for it.

On Election Day electors in Widikum did just that. As early as 6: 00am when the polls opened, they started trooping in braving bad weather conditions and threats from unseen so called separatists in a dire need to cast their votes for the CPDM. Easy to state which political party they voted for in this locality in that all through the mobilization and campaign phase of the election one political party, the CPDM stood out and stayed active in the area.

Senator Enwe Francis Abi, a son of Widikum takes the credit for a massive ground work on the field in preparation for this election. His instrumentalization in reversing the tides by educating the people on the importance of supporting the CPDM’s candidate was remarkable. At the election proper he and Stephen Akwa Tambu, President of the campaign commission worked hand in glove to ensure that their people go out on voting day and vote. It was a great relieve at the end of the exercise when it came out that a total of Nine thousand five hundred and seventeen (9517) votes were cast in favour of the CPDM. For an area hard hit by atrocities by separatist to vote so powerfully for CPDM’s candidate is a clear message of their desire for a complete turnaround. Expectations in Widikum are that by the time of the official proclamation of the general results, history would retain that it stood for and voted the candidate of the CPDM.
