The National Blood Transfusion Service, NBTS has adopted a CFAF 106,732,179 budget for the 2026 financial year, marking a phase of strategic consolidation and prioritisation as management reaffirms its commitment to efficiency, service quality and sustainable impact nationwide.
The Management Committee of the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), chaired by Professor Tetanye Ekoe, has adopted the institution’s 2026 budget at its 9th Ordinary Session held on 22 December 2025. Opening the session, the Chair set a forward-looking tone, underscoring the need for disciplined management and results-driven implementation in a context of constrained resources.

The adopted budget of CFAF 106,732,179, though reflecting a decline compared to the previous financial year, was presented as a strategic instrument to consolidate core missions rather than compromise service delivery. Management emphasised that the focus in 2026 will be on optimising available resources, strengthening governance, and safeguarding the quality and safety of the national blood supply.
Key perspectives outlined include reinforcing coordination with Regional Blood Transfusion Services, prioritising quality assurance, maintaining essential operations, and enhancing staff performance through better organisation and accountability. Professor Tetanye Ekoe stressed that budgetary discipline must go hand in hand with innovation and collective responsibility to ensure measurable outcomes.
Despite the reduced envelope, the Management Committee expressed confidence that the NBTS can sustain its mandate through prudent planning, improved internal controls and stronger partnerships.
