Presidential Reconstruction Plan : South West Communities Under Transformation

Schools, health facilities, markets in some communities, destroyed during the socio-political crisis, have undergone complete rehabilitation.

Under the slogan « Build back better », the Presidential plan for the Reconstruction and rehabilitation of the crisis affected English speaking regions is fast transforming communities, with most destroyed infrastructures receiving a new facelift. Most communities that have seen their damaged infrastructures reconstructed, have showered praises on the government, given that the new facility come with modern innovations. Through the build back better slogan, most of the damaged infrastructures are reconstructed with additional facilities, making them modern than the damaged ones. The case of Cameroon College of Arts and Science, CCAS Kumba in Meme Division, where the school has been given a new facelift with the administrative block, offices, staff room, classes and Science laboratory equipped with modern facilities like air conditioner, modern doors and windows as well as standard toilet facilities. GTHS Ombe in Fako Division has equally received great transformation, with the old workshop repaired to standard as well as other classes.

On health, the Alou, Lewoh, Mmouckmbie health facilities in Lebialem Division damaged with all equipment looted, have been revamped to modern standard. The health facilities have been equipped with solar lights and well fenced to ensure maximum security. 

For markets, communities such as Essoh Attah, Kake, Ediki, mile 40 and other localities have benefitted from modern markets.

The Coordinator of the Reconstruction Plan, Paul Tasong, continue to stress on the need for communities to unite and collaborate with the security and administrative authorities in order to restore security in their communities. He said the plan will only be implemented in safe zones to avoid kidnapping by armed separatists. The Coordinator expressed gratitude to the communities that have stood up to denounce armed separatists and encouraged others to do same. Paul Tasong thanked the Head of State President Paul Biya for initiating and championing the reconstruction, which has brought back happiness to affected communities. Tasong saluted the Prime Minister and Head of Government, the United Nations Development Program, as well as the various contractors for playing a major role in the implementation of the reconstruction plan.
