Bangou : Militants Hail Rise of Datouo Théodore

CPDM militants and sympathisers turned out in force in Bangou to celebrate the party’s 41st anniversary, in a show of renewed political ambition ahead of crucial electoral deadlines.

The celebration, marked by fervent speeches, music, and symbolic gestures, quickly evolved into a resounding tribute to the National President, Paul Biya, whose leadership was repeatedly praised as the cornerstone of the party’s longevity and stability.

At the heart of the festivities was a special expression of gratitude to the Head of State for what party faithful described as a “historic honour” bestowed upon the Upper Plateau Division in the election of Hon. Datouo Théodore as Speaker of the National Assembly.

Speaking during the event, Kamdem Didier, Section President for Upper Plateau north – Baham, emphasised the symbolic weight of the appointment. He described the Upper Plateau Section as “the first daughter of the New Deal,” noting that its consistent loyalty had now been rewarded at the highest level of legislative leadership. “Our division has always stood at the forefront of the New Deal vision. Today, that commitment is recognised through one of our own, a refined and seasoned politician entrusted with shaping the laws of this nation,” he declared to thunderous applause.

Echoing this sentiment, Prof. Ndiffo Justine praised the Head of State for what she termed a “mark of confidence and distinction.” She assured that militants of the Upper Plateau in general were not only grateful but also resolutely committed to translating that honour into electoral success.

We promise a clean sweep,” she affirmed, referring to the upcoming municipal and legislative elections. “Our mobilisation will be total, our victory certain.”

The anniversary gathering drew a cross-section of political and administrative elites, reflecting both the importance of the occasion and the strategic weight of the region within the CPDM’s political architecture. Among those present were Emmanuel Nzété of the Economic and Social Council, Hon. Ngocko Mambe, mayors and party militants and sympathisers who filled the venue in a sea of party colours.

The setting in Bangou blended political messaging with celebration. Speeches alternated with cultural displays, while songs of praise and unity reinforced the party’s ideological cohesion. The atmosphere remained festive throughout with militants reaffirming their allegiance to the party’s ideals.
