Oshie Women Yaounde : Repositioning as Unity and Peace Crusaders

Oshie Women resident in Yaounde are standing up to their core values of love, hard work, respect, in- tegrity and humil- ity for an effective and impactful growth.

They Stormed their Mendong cultural hall March 8 to show- case their prowess as partners in the development of village and the nation. The women started their day at the May 20 Boulevard, taking an active and impressive part in the march past in the presence of Cameroon’s First Lady Mrs. Chantal Biya.

Brighter Adaibum, president of the Oshie women in Yaounde expressed great satisfaction at the turnout. At the hall, the women had a huge package, in the presence of Prof. Ag- wara Moise Ondoh, National Presi- dent of the Oshie Cultural and Development Association (OCA), Prof. Tafah Edokat, Mafor Magaret Awanga, Pa Takwi Solomon to name but these.

The activities were engaging begin- ning with a Delegate from the OCA National bureau Laurence Andusa from Bamenda; dispatched to take stoke of OCA Yaounde’s activities. OCA Yaounde is a key arm of the general OCA. The delegate encour- aged the branch in their efforts in vil- lage growth and development; urging them to keep up the good work.

This was closely followed by the elec- tion of a new executive for OCA Yaounde. Clarence Onyanyi was over- whelmingly voted. He takes over from Emmanuel Agwara Oyebod who has come to the end of his man- date.

It was a colorful event; the women beautifully dressed in their March 8 fabric offered by Minister Mbah Rose Acha. Their activities included educative talks on the role of the woman in the growth, peace and development of society and Oshie home and abroad A new member, Emeline Maah Amene, wife of Eric Amene Angeme joined the Younde women’s group. She was warmly welcomed by all the women and asked to take her rightful seat.

Emeline is an exemplary woman, a mother a wife who has gone through the harshest fires in matrimony and has never been burnt. Doubtless, her husband; the charismatic lead drum- mer of the Oshie electric dance (Okani) USA calls her “My Gold”.

Her coming into the women’s group on the International Day of the woman, at a time when the woman and the girl is again plunged in diverse forms of violence from woman to woman is indicative of a needful re- duction of the Oshie woman on the to respect the true values of home and family. A task that President Brighter Adaibum must build on after the March 8 fanfare for a strong, united and peaceful Oshie woman community.

The women served delicacies like the favorite “Akonnongi”,goat meat paper soup and more. A beautiful day that ended well with much credit to Magdalene Forsi for an unmatched planning and a huge success.
