With the revision of electoral rolls closing on August 31, militants in the diaspora are engaged, though not concerned by the forthcoming legislative and municipal elections.
The CPDM’s strategy to secure decisive victories through voter registration is intensifying as the deadline for this exercise for 2026 draws near. Even beyond the country’s borders, and conscious of the lessons drawn from the 2025 presidential election, the Party is placing particular emphasis on effective management of the electoral register.
During the recent Strategic Seminar on electoral preparedness, the Secretary General of the Central Committee, Jean Nkuété, instructed party officials to intensify preparations through a methodical approach centred on mobilisation, communication and vigilant monitoring of the electoral process. Among the priorities he identified was the need to “ensure effective control of the voters’ register” as part of the Party’s roadmap towards renewed electoral victories.
That strategy is already taking shape within the Cameroonian diaspora. In the United Kingdom, Dr Elvis Mbwoge, President of the CPDM North East London Subsection, has once again been called to serve on the Commission for the Revision of Electoral Rolls at the Cameroon High Commission in London after representing the Party at the polling bureau during the 2025 presidential election.Describing the appointment as a renewed mark of confidence, Dr Mbwoge says his experience during the last presidential election enabled him to identify some operational shortcomings. To him, “the CPDM is a very forward looking party with a leadership that listens and thestrategy to have members of the executive duly registered encompasses a lot and I would like to see this turned into policy”. Determined to contribute to continuous improvement, he has drafted a memorandum containing practical recommendations and proposed solutions, which he has submitted to the Party leadership for consideration.For this CPDM Subsection president, strengthening the credibility and effectiveness of voter registration remains essential if the Party is to consolidate its electoral gains.
