Measures taken by the Andeck Council through Mayor Ubangoh Helly speak volumes of a people ready to reaffirm their commitments to Cameroon’s peace and unity.
In collaboration with the Divisional Officer for Andeck, Security services and stake holders in the municipality, the council is taking steps to ensure a peaceful, dignified and inclusive celebration of the 54th National day on May 202, 2026.
Plan are to ensure that this event stand out, surpass previous editions by reflecting the collective commitment to peace, unity and development in the municipality. For this Mayor Ubangoh says “the council will place special emphasis on civic responsibility, social cohesion and resilience”.
A selected number of school children from both the primary and secondary sector will be offered uniforms and other school materials. This is to encourage youth education, discipline and patriotism.
The recognition of citizens who have stood out in their services to the municipality and the nation at large will also be given due attention. Still according to the mayor, “This is very necessary considering the fact that our municipality is yet from a crisis. Some of such citizens have played major roles to ensure that permanent peace returns to our municipality. We can’t just let such commendable efforts go unrecognized” Ubangoh emphasized.
In the domain of culture, the council has also reserved special gifts especially for cultural groups, charged with animation as an appreciation of their key role in the preservation of their cultural heritage as well as the fostering of unity through songs and dance.
The council, guarantor of municipal structures, is carrying out renovation works on the grandstand that will host the event.
Clean up campaigns have also been initiated to give a facelift around the ceremonial ground and major streets in the municipality.
Mobilization is palpable in all sectors of the municipality according to Ubangoh “Restaurants and bar owners, owners of petit businesses are all preparing to give the day its grandeur”.
Mayor Ubangoh has continued to call on sons and daughters of Andeck home and abroad to mobilize massively, and be an active part of this edition of the National day celebration.
