Francis Fai Yengo, President of the Divisional Campaign Commission for Bui, has appealed for calm, peace, and civic responsibility as Cameroon awaits the official results of the October 12 presidential election.
In a statement titled “Peace and National Responsibility,” on October 20, 2025, Fai Yengo thanked citizens for their peaceful participation in what he called “an important democratic exercise.” He said the enthusiasm and civic duty shown across communities reflected “the maturity of our people.”
Acknowledging that tensions and misinformation had emerged in some areas, Fai Yengo warned against division and violence. “The stability of Cameroon is a collective responsibility that transcends parties, regions, and opinions,” he said.
He urged citizens to trust the elections management body, ELECAM, and the Constitutional Council to manage the post-election process transparently and independently. “The true victory belongs not to any one individual or party, but to the unity and resilience of the Cameroonian people,” he added.
The Constitutional Council has announced that the proclamation of results will take place on Monday, October 27.
Fai Yengo reaffirmed that no political ambition justified the loss of life or the destruction of national institutions.
Protests erupted in Maroua, Garoua, and Dschang, where the court and CPDM buildings were torched alongside other properties.
He called on Cameroonians at home and abroad to uphold peace and solidarity, stressing that “peace should not be a slogan but a lived reality.”
