The campaign for the Cpdm candidate is a special concern of the Ycpdm. ‘’The Secretary general has outlined the method through which the campaign will unfold. Militants of the youth wing of our party have been well oriented on what to do as far as the election of the national president is concerned’’, says the national president of the youth wing of the party, Stephen Mbonda Motia. The youths have combed the nooks and crannies of the country. Rapporteurs have been appointed at virtually all levels and are making conscious efforts to keep the national bureau abreast with happenings on the field. ‘’They assured us that most youths on the field believe in the ideologies on the party. As such, they are prepared to give President Paul Biya a landslide victory on October 9, 2011” Motia went on. “At this moment, the youths have a broad mind and for no reason will they accept that someone else comes in to rob them of good sense”, chips in Yves Ntebe, the Information, communication and propaganda delegate of the Ycpdm. Concerning youths who agitate in favour of the opposition, diehard supporters claim that “the party’s electoral college is structured into sections, sub sections, branches and cells. We have registered our militants”. “And so whatever the jubilation seen around the country in favour of the opposition, it is all about stage crowd”, harmers Yves Ntebe. In Buea, home town of the deputy Secretary general of the Youth wing, Motombi Mbome, all moves in the right direction. “I am in charge of Molyko, Maoumo and Lisoka. I am happy these youths have not been derailed by opposition leaders”, says Motombi. Yet, Motombi frowns at the fact that some youths show no respect for the Head of State as they insult him on national Tv and in their campaign rallies.Tthe youth president says he has convinced people beyond calculation to vote for Mr Biya. “After my election on the heels of the third ordinary congress of our party, my people received me in Meme division (Mbongue II). This was a very important event given that it took place at the eve of the launch of campaign. I used the occasion to broaden their perspectives on why they should stick to the ideals of the Cameroon people’s democratic movement. They thanked the national president, the Secretary general and minister Bidoung Kpwatt for all they did to ensure that elections unfolded in transparency”. He goes further to say his brothers and sisters in the division “promised to vote massively for the Cpdm when time comes. From there we joined the national campaign manager who doubles as Prime minister to launch campaign in Kumba and Tiko. That aside, Stephen Mbonda says he has talked to delegates from virtually all regions of the country. “In the East region for instance, I have been assured of a landslide victory by the youths. I have also talked to my other militants in the grand North, South, North West, Centre, West and Littoral. To convince youths to vote for Paul Biya, their representatives in the party say “our biggest strength lies in the fact that government is doing pretty much to reduce the unemployment rate in Cameroon. All youths cannot get into the public service. We therefore drill them self employment opportunities”. To this effect, Mbonda and his team are trying to liaise with the ministry of Small and medium size enterprises, social economy and handicraft. “We want to create a forum through which Cameroonian youths can be co-opted into job creating ventures.
