Fighting Insecurity in Kumba : CPDM MP Equips Vigilante Groups

The donations comprising touches, rain boots, jackets, and cash, were handed to the different vigilante groups in Kumba to help boost their performance.

Hon. Lawson Tabot Bakia, CPDM Member of Parliament for Kumba Central and Secretary of the Bureau of the National Assembly says that the growing crime rate in Kumba needs the assistance and participation of all, and not just the forces of law and order. “The government cannot allocate police men to individual homes. As such the collective efforts of all is needed. The vigilante groups play a significant role in fighting insecurity. The sacrifices they make to stay up late into the night while others sleep, helps to compliment the efforts of the forces of law and order. I have always been assisting them because I am impressed with their performance. Crime rate is fast reducing in Kumba due to the efforts of the vigilante and the forces of law and order”.
The different items donated will help to identify them while out at night. The cash will enable them improve their upkeep and motivation.
The MP who is also CPDM section president of Meme I A, has equally urged the different vigilante groups to identify other needs which can enable them perform better and forward to him for more actions. He has equally promised to provide motorbikes to ease their movements across the different neighbourhoods.
While receiving the donations via the different quarter heads, the heads of the vigilante groups expressed gratitude to the MP for coming to their rescue. To them the donation is a booster and a recognition of the job they have been doing. They urged other officials like mayors to copy the example of the MP and assist them.
One of the leaders of the vigilante group disclosed that their activities are being carried out free of charge, with people of good will coming to their assistance once in a while.
