Voter registration : Mefou & Akono South West Maximises Last Lap

The section is using the two months leading up to the closure of the exercise this year to enroll potential voters on electoral registers for 2023.

To ensure optimal enrolment, CPDM local authorities here have been cumbing the section’s nooks and crannies to reawaken potential voters to their responsibility. The section President, Daniel Hippolyte Bikoe, flag bearer of this exercise was in Afan Ngamba in the Akono VII subsection on Sunday June 25, 2023 for this purpose.
Two months to the closure of the registration exercise, they are using every opportunity to recruit potential voters and to sensitize those who have just moved to the area to get themselves registered in order to be eligible to vote at any given time. “We have till 31August 2023 to register in preparation for upcoming elections”, the section president emphasized.
Section 74 (2) of the electoral code states that “the annual revision of the electoral registers shall, commence on 1 January and end on 31 August every year”. These last two months are thus very important, and Daniel Bickoe is leaving nothing to chance. He continues to charge eligible voters to make hay while it shines.
He has called on local party leaders to focus on intensifying sensitization and registration of youths. This group can be reached by going to youth agglomerations in the section such as holiday and leisure spots and other milieus where youths congregate. The section president’s mission is to ensure that the optimal numbers of potential voters register. Daniel Bickoe has prescribed the use of the social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and twitter to lure more potential voters to register in his section.
The CPDM party is always at the fore, beating the drum for a responsible citizenship which entails carrying out responsibilities. In his words, “We are militants because we can cast votes, and to cast votes, we must be registered; let’s therefore get registered, this way we can keep proving our attachment, loyalty and undisputable support for the CPDM party and its national president, Paul Biya”, he emphasized.
The Mefou and Akono southwest section has thirteen subsections and the section president plans to carry this message to all before the registration period elapses.
