KUMBA : City Mayor Fetes Easter with Muslims

The six different Muslim communities in the city of Kumba received foodstuffs and other items at the eve of Easter, as they fast ahead of the Ramadan .

Foodstuffs comprising 40 bags of rice, 20 cartons of sugar, 10 cartons of vegetable oil, 20 cartons of tomatoes, and 10 bags of Spaghetti, were the special gifts distributed to the Muslim communities in Kumba by the city mayor, Gregory Mewanu, on the eve of Easter. The donation aims to assist these Muslims as they fast in preparation for the Ramadan feast. The different communities comprising Fulani, Baba, Muslim women, Niger, Banso and Bamoun, each received a reasonable consignment during the distribution at the residence of the chief of Muslim communities.
Gregory Mewanu, while handing the gifts, saluted the courageous and determination of the Muslims in ensuring the return of peace and normalcy in Kumba. “Since the outbreak of the crisis, you people have remained steadfast and united. You didn’t escape to other towns like some Kumba inhabitants. Even during the difficult moment of elections, you people came out massively and voted for the CPDM party that led to our victory. I am so overwhelmed with your unity and I will continue to join you to pray to Allah to continue to guide and unite you. The little gifts it’s a symbol of how I feel in my heart. For those who can’t afford something to sustain this fasting period, I know the little will assist. We did the same exercise last year and we will continue to do it as our own little way of appreciation for your loyalty and support for the CPDM party and the development of Kumba as a whole”, city mayor explained to the Muslim communities.
In response, the assistant Imam of the Muslim central mosque in Kumba, Nasirou Ibrahim, thank the city mayor for thinking about their welfare and equally assures the CPDM party that they will always demonstrate their loyalty to the party. The deputy imam hailed the city mayor for the ongoing tarring of some streets in the Muslim neighborhood as well as the construction of boreholes.
The representative of the chief, Bello Mohammed, equally extend gratitude to the city mayor for always thinking about them during fasting period. He reassured that the Muslim communities in Kumba will remain law abiding, loyal and will always ready to contribute positively for the development of the city of Kumba.
